MITE BOXES – please take home one of the LWML Mite Boxes as you leave the service so you and your family can help reach the Atlantic District Mission Goal for this biennium. A thank you to all who have been doing this. Because of your help we have been able to pay through Mission Grant # 6. We still have 7 more grants to support but I know with the mite boxes you fill and return to us, we can do this. Check out the list of grants on the bulletin board in the gym foyer. Your “mites” go a long way. Thank you and God Bless.
Mary Martha Guild – we would like to thank our congregation, Thrivent Financial, Chris Abatelli, and the Youth Group for the help we received in filling 87 shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse - Operational Christmas Child. We are grateful for all the supplies donated and for the help from the youth and our Mary Martha ladies as we all sorted through the boxes. Thank you again and God Bless.
“WILLING WALKERS TEAM” – On October 22, 2017 4 people from the Mary Martha Guild (and Artie Pabst) at St. John’s, completed the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at the Eastern Campus of Suffolk Community College in Riverhead. We joined many other people who came out for the walk. With your donations included, our team was able to donate $1,126.00. We thank you for helping and for being a blessing by supporting needed research for breast cancer.
COOKIES – on Sunday, December 10, the Mary Martha Guild will be holding their cookie sale in the upper nursery room during coffee hour between services. The cookie trays will hold many delicious cookies and are homemade by the ladies of the Mary Martha Guild. Each tray can be purchased for $7 each. In addition, there will be some extra gifts for sale for someone special in your life. The proceeds will go to help with the missions of the Mary Martha Guild and we thank you for your support. If you would like to preorder your cookies, please call Julie Crawford at 631-589-4670

ATTENTION!!! PLEASE READ!!!
Good News will move to an electronic format which will be emailed out at the end of each month.
You may view Good News monthly online by clicking "Newsletter" link at left
What does this mean? A very Lutheran question you ask. Well, if you are currently on our email distribution list, then you needn’t do anything at all except look in your inbox towards the end of September for an email from the church with the newsletter attached, open the email, open the attachment, and enjoy the new and improved Good News.
If you are not currently on our email list, then please fill out the bottom of this slip and please make sure to print legibly. Another alternative is to email the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know that you’d like to be added to our email list for the purposes of receiving our newsletter. Don’t worry, we don’t send out a lot of emails and we don’t really have any deals or specials to try and entice you to come in, save the precious and free Gospel of Jesus given out each week in the Divine Service!
If you are not on our email list and do not do email, have no fear. We will make a few hard copies and make them available in the narthex on the way out of church. Live too far away? Don’t worry…we will mail you a copy, but since we will no longer be getting the bulk price for postage, we would simply ask you for a small donation of $10 to cover the costs of shipping for one year. Either way, just check the appropriate box on link below.
If you have any questions, let us know in the church office. Thanks, and look out next month for the new Good News still filled with all the great things happening at St. John’s, and more!
SIMPLY GIVING PROGRAM: Our church offers electronic giving on a scheduled, automatic basis. If you are writing checks and preparing envelopes every week, you will especially appreciate electronic giving. It is convenient for you and provides much-needed donation consistency for our church.
Look for our Quick Response (QR) code image on flyers and inserts.
What is this QR code and why use it?
When you scan this barcode-like QR code image with a smartphone's QR decoder, it will instantly connect you to the mobile version of your web page. Try it yourself! To individuals who are familiar with QR codes, it will provide a quick and easy way to access the web page without having to type out a long web address or locate our link.
If you would like to put live flowers on
the altar in memory of or in honor of someone, please contact the church office.
